In Oregon the animal rights folks were following hunters into the woods and filming them while screaming and yelling to frighten game away as a form of protest. Apparently they tried this on the wrong hunter, who didn't use violence, he simply led these pale out of shape college kids (some wearing only flip flops) on foot into the worst country he could find, and by the time they figured out he was playing them they were hopelessly lost and physically unable to continue. He actually took pity on them and directed them how to get back to the road, then left to go back to his vehicle and go home.

When these animal rights heroes got back to the world, they tried to press charges against the hunter and the police laughed at them. Then they tried to sue him, and the judge levied a judgement of $1 compensatory damages.

That was a lot of years ago, but if that guy's still alive I'll bet he hasn't had to buy his own beer from that day until this.

On what basis? He guided them into the wilderness and back. The juge should have awarded him guide fees.

In 1989 there was this one PETA dude on CNN talking about following deer hunters in order to scare away the deer. I wa in East Texas at the time. I would have suggested that he come down to East Texas or Southwestern Louisiana and follow Messrs Boudreaux and Thibidoux to their deer lease. As an added bonus, Mr. PETA Person would be a guest of Monseur (sp?) Fontenot for some gator hunting. Now what to use for bait????

I call BS !!!

Got a link? What possible reason would there be to assess any damages?

He took a hike, they got lost. I am a tough old geezer with a good hunting GPS. I would have kept going and just left the stragglers as they dropped out, if they ever existed at all.
