Palin on brokered convention "do whatever I could to help."

Essential reading: Palin, on Fox Business Network, says a brokered convention could happen and, if it does, she would "do whatever I could to help."

Read the transcript below.

BOLLING: Governor, a lot of people are saying it can't happen. I don't necessarily agree with them. If one of the nominees, one of the GOPers, doesn't get enough delegates, it could go the a brokered convention.

If it does get to that and someone said, Governor, would you be interested, would you be interested?

PALIN: Well, for one, I think that it could get to that. And I -- you know, if it had to -- if it had to be kind of closed up today, the whole nominating process, then we would be looking at a brokered convention.

I mean nobody is quite there yet. So I think that months from now, if that's the case, then, you know, all bets are off as to who it will be willing to offer themselves up in the name of service to their country. I would -- I would do whatever I could to help.

BOLLING: That's -- that's fantastic.

"Brokered" is not the correct term - for the convention to be "brokered", there have to be "brokers", which, in the context of 2012 would be a very bad thing. Any Republican official who would be in a position to be a broker is likely untrustworthy at best.

The end state we should desire is "deadlocked" - Romney short of 1142, Gingrich + Santorum + Paul > 1141 but unable to do a deal because they don't have enough overlap to pull it off.

The convention is really the place where the nominee should be chosen - primaries, the way they have developed, are stupid and should have much less influence then they do currently.

There are 3 ways for a deadlocked convention to end - a compromise among active nominees (usual), a stampede (Wilkie 1940), and a dark horse/favorite son.

After a long silence, Our Lady of Wasilla has started to show a little ankle in the past few weeks.

Does it mean something? Who knows?

Maybe.

I would love to see Sarah Palin run if only to see liberals heads explode!

Sarah Palin has something no other politician has ever had. The liberals hate her so much because of that and that she is a conservative that has “it” like no one else has had.

Why can’t I have this at least?

I think Our Lady of Wasilla’s plan has been:

Avoid getting sullied in the primaries. She didn’t want to have to go through the scrutiny from her own party and defend herself against it. Once the primaries are over, she’s still clean with no broken teeth or scars.

Be ready at the phone, having already gotten the right feelers in place to make that call (almost like the American Idol contestants giving hand signals on what number to call), should the convention become brokered or deadlocked. The lady WANTS that call to happen should no clear candidate emerge from the primaries an be nominated at the convention.

Short of that, I honestly see her in a third party situation. Especially if Mitt is the ultimate candidate or Jeb if brokered/deadlocked. She’ll claim it was a draft movement, but again, she’s likely already getting that in place should the brokered/deadlocked convention fail to materialize or she’s not chosen.

That’s what I’m talking about - I’ve had my tagline a long time . . .

Not gonna happen, unfortunately. But it will sure be fun driving certain people nuts pretending that it will. BTT.

Good enough for me. Let the demoncrats waste some time chasing dragons.

I remember when Coca Cola dropped its traditional Coke and introduced the New Coke. After its abysmal failure and the “reintroduction” of the traditional Coke, someone asked Coca Cola if that was his plan all along. He replied, “None of us are that smart.”

Same with Sarah.

Let's pray it is not a brokered convention. There is only one certain outcome: Rick the big-government conservative would gladly throw his support behind Mitt.

Rick has strong antithesis towards the Tea Party and Conservatives with the Western mindset of Reagan/Palin (libertarian)

If Palin is the nominee I'd vote for her, but it's not going to happen.

Sarah was always my first choice. She is not running. There will NOT be a brokered convention. If by some fluke it is a brokered convention there is only one outcome -- Mitt/Rick(vp) The GOP-e will make sure that Newt is pushed out. Sarah will not be an option.

Our candidate will be one of the current candidates. I'm supporting Newt and believe he is the only one with any real chance of winning - and even that will be a tough slog.

I am 100% for Newt. He is the only one serious about turning our Republic towards Liberty. It will be a very tough slog to get him back on top.

I pray that Sarah would make a commitment and endorse Newt (before Super Tuesday) She needs to get out there and campaign for him. No one is better on the stump than Sarah. He needs her type of help.

The media, the powers-that-be want Newt trailing and defeated. Rick is a disaster waiting to happen. A two term senator, lawyer would be rightfully crushed in the general. This fool will not know what hit him.

Good post and pretty much exactly as my thoughts have been all along.
Her "let them get all the questions ask, this is healthy" attitude has left me wondering what will the trigger be, and when?

She is well aware that if the timing is not right if could be counter to the real need of the electorate.

No one needs to tell her that timing would be critical.

The conservative electorate is very fickle. Too early or too late could loose some voters and cost the election... and she would not get another chance short of an armed conflict in the U.S.

That would certainly ruin the country for ever.

We also can not take four more years of Obama.
