Did the same in ‘83 when I was unemployed and I still had two young ones to feed. Thought my life was over.

Prayed for death so that my life insurance would take care of the family, but received an exciting and better second career, instead.

I liked God’s alternative choice so much better.

I was a high school student in 1983 ;-)

I went just because I needed to be out of the house and with some people (the library was our other sanctuary), and found unconditional love from all kinds of people: retired couple, widows, college students, landscape workers off the street. It kept me going until my family situation improved, and I did everything I could in that church until we moved.
