I like the idea of Paul Ryan coming out of the convention. He’s a little vanilla, but I think he would be able to give Obama a run for his money in debates. He’s like Newt, but without the debilitating personal baggage. Pair him with a GOP elder statesman and you’ve got something like the dems ran in 2008. Ryan/DeMint, perhaps.
