I don’t see what’s so great about that. The National Anthem is not an R&B/soul song, and I can’t stand it when it is sung as such. It does not require ridiculous high notes and lots of self aggrandizing.
Boy, you blew that 1.
It’s ‘”DON’T” trust your feelings’.
I was responding to a post that claimed there was more emotion in Dolly’s version. I disagree with that. I didn’t say Dolly had no emotion.
But if I compare I can’t take too much ulalating of the hillbilly type. I love country music (there is little music I DON’T like), but I can take the accents fine, but not the instantaneous out-of-tune up&down tones often employed as in here. Funny how Whitney is accused of “up & down” but not country singers like Dolly.
Plus, there is the arrangement. Whitney’s has serious orchestration, which I also love.
Damn - I’ve been hearing that wrong for 25 years (although I’m not sure I’ve heard it at all in the last 15.)
I know everyone loves to hate Bobby but I think that she really loved him. He was bad for her but to really be able to love someone genuinely is a gift from God. We should pray for him.
I believe Whitney was a Christian with many problems but God's love for His children lasts forever even when we in many ways fail. To have someone you really love and to be loved back, even if very imperfectly, is a gift. Some people go through life and never really know the strong love of another. Whitney's love for Bobby was unconditional and so can our's be. Let's pray for his salvation.
