I’m buds with a couple of instructors at Musicians Inst. here in Hollywood. It is hard for artists to make money by themselves because the system favors marketing reps and record labels who expertly know the payola’ system on radio and TV. More reason why bands go on tour a lot because tours generate more revenue in the majority for the artists and bands. Well anyways, they’re mostly liberals so eff em..
On the other hand, most people I know of who make money uploading “stuff” don’t use Megaupload because you don’t make money off them. I personally know people who prefer Fileserve, Filesonic or Depositfiles for making money BUT you have to be careful how you “write” the link..

They actually have sites that “link protect” so bots that trace uploader links on forums can’t trace their stuff automatically.
The fact is, the music industry can’t survive and the movie/tv industry will have to decentralize soon regardless of what they want. I hope the music industry realizes that if they would have modernized and made an itunes-like direct d/l service.
Take for example the band Toro Y Moi - I bought their LP on line which linked to a downloadable/passworded copy of the LP on MP3. I went to their concert by buying tickets online.
Another group I like Giraffage is on Soundcloud. They issued an EP and made payment optional. I paypalled him $5.
Decentralization is awesome because the money decentralizes with it. Screw Hollywood.
That’s the way it should be....the music recordings should serve as the advertising for the band, to get people interested in seeing them live.
But gee, that way, artists would have to play real instruments, and sing without auto-tune. Can’t have that now, can we?
