Seems fame hasn't gone to Scotty's head...yet at least.

Scotty McCreery to Attend North Carolina State University

By: Amy Sciarretto | 5 hours ago tasteofcountry.com

Scotty McCreery is a legitimate country superstar at the tender age of 18. He won Season 10 of ‘American Idol’ in 2011 and was just awarded a platinum plaque for ‘Clear as Day,’ which celebrates a million copies sold. He’s performed on several late night TV shows and has embarked on major tours. But underneath it all, he’s still a country boy at heart who plans to further his education. He confirmed to CMT Radio (thanks, mjsbigblog) that while he was accepted to all four colleges that he applied to, he will be attending North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The ‘Water Tower Town’ singer and ACM nominee likely picked this particular learning institution because it’s his father’s alma mater. He is also considering transferring to a school in Nashville after two years at NCSU in Raleigh. Plenty of celebrities have attended college in the middle of their careers with no negative consequences, so McCreery’s decision to hit the books and earn a degree despite having a red-hot career is not surprising. He certainly honed his multi-tasking skills on last summer’s ‘Idol’ tour, recording his record in between gigs, promotional appearances, interviews and more. So he can obviously handle college and a career. Congrats to Scotty McCreery on another rite of passage. Perhaps he can perform concerts on campus for his classmates.
