Sounds like the producers gave all the singers the same advice.
Colton doesn’t say he was singled out by the producers. He doesn't say that he (or anyone) was ordered not to post what they wanted.
And nothing in these articles says he was told to "tone down" his comments or not talk about Jesus.
Idol producers are lefties, but they're not stupid. They went out of their way last year to show Scotty McCreery kissing his cross after meeting Lady Gaga and saying "Lord, this is not my doing."
Neither Scotty or Lauren Alaina hid their faith, and neither did Idol. They know who their audience is.

I think the writer over-reacted too. It’s like they are trying to find a story to showcase how ‘weird’ the Christians are. Like you, I did not know Colton was a friend of Jesus. I thought he just liked skinny pants and had skunk hair:)
All true but it helps to have a good voice.
The gal that left last week sang a religious song, but her voice just couldn’t keep up. I had good hopes for her initially.
