Well this is good news, from a political prospective, it means that Obama is so afraid of losing his radical left wing that he can't move to the center. It also means that Republicans have a huge bludgeon to hit him with from now to election day anytime he tries to paint himself as the jobs president. I hope the commercials start rolling tomorrow...

...he tries to paint himself as the jobs president ..

They've got more than the 'jobs' issue to bludgeon him with. This oil from a friendly neighbor just across the border is a matter of national security, especially with Iran threatening to close the Straits of Hormuz. The Repubs should (politically) put him six feet under on this one.

Or... It means he knows he can do this for them and still come out smelling like a rose, so thorough is his mastery of the media.

First, if the Republicans are true to form, they will do nothing to capitalize on this decision. You will hear outrage for a couple of days and then nothing. The press will push it under the rug and it will be forgotten by the election no matter what the Canadians do. The leftist greens have won and the country will suffer by not reducing its dependence on oil from Venezuela and the Arab states. China will benefit as the Canadians export to the west instead of south.

Second, if the Republicans were serious in opposition, Boehner would call the House of Representatives into emergency session, pass a bill to require the President to approve the pipeline, and then personally carry it over to Harry Reid and demand a Senate vote. The Republican candidates for President and every GOP Senator and Representative would issue press releases everyday demanding action by the Democrats. The mainstream press would be hard pressed to ignore this kind of aggressive and concerted action.

Unfortunately, the Republicans don’t have the spine to fight nor do they have the public relations skills to pull it off. By next week we will be back to business as normal.

Agreed....anything bad he does between now and November is good for us.

As long as our nominee has the cajones to use it.
