Despite endless talk of spending cuts and fiscal restraint in Washington over the past year, lawmakers continued to act as though the government doesn't spend nearly enough.
They introduced 874 bills in the House and Senate that would have boosted annual federal spending by more than $1 trillion if they'd all been signed into law, according to an analysis done for IBD by the National Taxpayers Union Foundation.
In contrast, lawmakers offered up just 215 bills to cut spending last year that would have reduced federal outlays by about half a trillion had they all been signed into law.

While the story doesn’t break it down by party, it’s very important to understand the following:
A DEMOCRAT WITHOUT OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY TO SPEND IS POWERLESS
It does not have to break it down by party. The GOP is guilty too.... they did not stop it.
This is why we are screwed. As the economy continues to sputter or gets worse the spending will automatically increase due to entitlements.
I can’t help but remember how upset folk were with Bush’s spending like a “drunken Sailor” and his out of control unemployment at 4.9-5.9%.
All the spending Obama has done with little to no positive affect, investing in bankrupt ideas like Solar, thumbing his nose at checks and balances, and he still has more than 21% approval rating?
..and going on 3 years, still have no budget.
One of the things that is destroying this country is the false belief that one party is better than the other. Talk about obama’s class warfare! The two parties love that the people think “their” party is the right one.
Remember that the 535 people in Washington, 425, congress critters, 100 senate flakes 9 black robed high priests and ONE President are responsible for all the mess. They write, pass adjudicate and sign off on the laws we live under. 535 people with absolute control over your life. Rest easy.AmeriKa. The gulags are not far away.
And when business was creating 250,000 jobs/month, that was a "jobless" recovery. The media didn't shut up till the rate hit 400,000/month. Now anything above zero is cause for cheer.
