Your 2nd Q first: Why does it have to be either/or? We know most of the names of the writers of books of the Bible, yet isn't it referenced as "God's" Word?

First Q: Are you claiming that GOD NEVER gets involved in ANY small thing?

Why wouldn't God take an interest in small things that still can wind up glorifying Him -- and providing a platform for those who trust in Him...as an example for OTHERS to "believe"...and trust God...even in difficult circumstances?

To both your points.. do you have kids or grand kids? Did you ever see them do things you taught them... especially when others see it and comment positively on them?
That is how I think god sees the situation here. The effect is the same thing. The fact that someone sees how well you taught them magnifies the good the kids have done beyond just the good the child has done.
