Alice Cooper made me think of this. He had been on the highway to hell until he met a woman who reformed and redeemed him. Though his performance career is pretty much on the down side, he has a lot of resources, and is a very capable musician, so he decided to help create a new generation of musicians.

Phoenix is his hometown, so he periodically shows up at some high school and asks to speak to the band director. Usually he’ll then spend a day giving seminars to the kids, with useful advice on about any instrument. And he is a very inspirational speaker, so really boosts enthusiasm.

And there are lots of very professional musicians and performers who could do the same, though likely not with kids, which is a real gift. But music as an art form would be helped a lot if they could adopt some up and coming talents so that they could get the most out of their most innovative and productive years.
