Like I tell my kids.... This ain’t no dollar major... and this ain’t no dollar colonel... this is the Dollar GENERAL..
Dollar General isn’t a dollar store.
My town of 14k has 2 Dollar Generals and 1 Family Dollar that compete with the Walmart Supercenter.
Family Dollar actually has some of the lowest prices. Walmart has some of the highest prices for the exact same items.
You got that right.
With the way Zero is going, it won’t be long and true dollar stores will become 2 dollar stores.
Who really owns these stores?
My mother pointed that out to me. I was surprised.
Additionally, the things that she gets at the Dollar Store are of a smaller size. More tailored to a two-person household. For instance, she and dad don't NEED to get a 30-pack of toilet paper. The $1 store size is just fine.

Evil capitalists.
Well, me. Likely you too, if you have a 401k. Several of them (Dollar General? Family Dollar?) are publicly traded and fairly widely held.
These stores are small-town fixtures all throughout the South. My little hometown of 1300 people had one back in the ‘70s (plus a Ben Franklin five-and-dime) when I was a kid and now I think it has two.

Yup. We have one in our little town and I love it. Their Clover Valley line of stuff is pretty good and the dog biscuits are made in the U S of A.
I confess I buy the cheapazz sunglasses too, $3 polarized. I like the looks of $200 sunglasses but I can only afford to misplace the $3 ones... :^(
I like Family Dollar SOOO much better than Dollar General. Dollar General seems a little trashier.
Right. There are some things I need that I will only buy at a Dollar store
Only thing Dollar General doesn’t have is fresh produce - which means that Michelle is going to crack down on ‘em.
Be careful what you buy in these places. Stuff like toothpaste can be Chinese knock-offs that WILL get you sick.
Welcome to the Obama economy where the only economic growth is in dollar stores and pawn shops.
