I exchanged gifts with my daughter and sisters, had a great meal, went home and now watching the Firefly DVD that my kid gave to me.

The dog is very happy I brought home leftovers!

Well, Skooz, I’m all alone with my wife tonight. We lost our dog in March and miss her terribly. We’ll wait the full year and a bit and see if we can find another companion. The place is empty without her....she was really, really great! You have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. We hope we all get what we want in November.

Another thing, Skooz, Thank you for your post. It reminds me again of the wonderful camaraderie among relative strangers that is evoked by being able to participate in FR forums. God Bless all of you!!

Thanks Skooz and to you as well from me and my wife of 48 years. We are sharing Christmas with two dogs and four cats, all tucked in their beds with visions of whatever visions they have.

I’m here alone, except for 2 weenie dogs :). I made a pot of chicken and dumplings today and am enjoying some Christmas programs on TV and just chilling out.

I hope everyone has a pleasant, peaceful holiday!

I’m sitting in the hospital with a bad infection and COPD. I sent the wife to her moms. I will miss all the nieces and nephews opening gifts tomorrow. But FReepers are never really alone.
Merry Christmas, Skooz.

Thanks for posting this. Tonight is my first Christmas Eve “alone” ever. We always did the Italian tradition of many kinds of fish for dinner. Long ago, we had about seven different kinds and about seventy relatives. We had gotten down to three different fish by last Christmas.

I did my part tonight by having three kinds of fish at a sushi restaurant.

It is so nice to share your Christmases with all of you. A holy Christmas Eve and a merry Christmas to all.

Skooz, you aren’t alone. You are in my thoughts right this minute. Good thoughts and happy wishes going your way. I like to think you are alone only if no one is thinking about you. So, right now you have a LOT of FReepers being with you... we are just separated by miles. God Bless!

Sit back, enjoy a nice pale ale. And have visions of sugar plums, and moving trucks pulling into the White House next year.

I'm heading off to Church now with a sad feeling after reading many of these sad posts. I will pray for everyone here, and I wish you all a Blessed Christmas.

Here are some links for some sad Christmas songs, followed by a link for a joyful Christmas carol, which I believe can knock all the blues and sadness out of your soul.

God bless you all.

Some Sad Christmas Song Links, Then A Joyful One
Blue Christmas
It Won't Seem Like Christmas Without You
I'll Be Home For Christmas
White Christmas
Silent Night

My favorite Christmas song is one for a “Christmas alone”:

December brings the King of Kings
They tell us that a child is born
But snowy nights and Christmas lights,
They only leave me cold and worn
Salvation bands reach out their hands
To ask you for a dime or two
To praise the Lord...
and Henry Ford
Detroit, December....

The friends I meet along the street
I know them from the factory
But thirty years of buildin’ gears
Make Christmas seem untrue to me
Eight hours a day to earn my pay
And overtime to see me through
And peace on earth, for what it’s worth,
Detroit, December...

The things I had, the things I made
Are lost like pebbles on the beach
And everything I want the most
Is always furthest out of reach
To trade these blues for dancin’ shoes...
And trade the old year for the new
But time it seems
Will steal your dreams,
Detroit, December,
....and you.

Best to all for a Merry Christmas and a good New Year!

I am sitting here with my sweet dog Buckley and no one else. My husband and son should be home soon, but it’s nice just being here with the doggie.

Merry Christmas!
