Agreed!

In fact, I recently picked up a Selectric III for $20. Publicly, my reason was to have something to handle quick envelopes and the like, but actually I just liked typing on it.

Unfortunately, it turned out to need a tuneup to work properly, and I decided it wasn't worth it, so I got rid of it.

I found it interesting that I was unable to find carbon paper (to complete my "non-computer" writer's setup) anywhere! Apparently, carbon paper is now a specialty item.

A guy told me he once went to a bankruptcy auction for some failed high tech startup.

He said he's standing in line to pick up his winning bid package, mostly low tech office stuff, and chatting with the other winning bidders.

They came from hundreds of miles away to bid on the high tech stuff, graphic workstations, etc.

They're bragging about the SparcStations, and other prized stuff of the day, and he has to admit the most exciting thing he's getting is a Selectric. They all laughed.
