It strikes me that the vast majority of the tea party folks who are so anti-Newt - many of whom are no doubt big time Sarah Palin supporters - would in no way, shape or form be able to defend Sarah Palin the way Newt did.
It was brilliant, passionate, off the cuff and damned straight to the point.
This is also perhaps part of the establishment’s problem with Newt, because they surely would not have liked Newts support for Palin.
So to all the Holier than thou Bachmann and Santorum supporters out there hatin on the Newtster: do you think your candidate could ever replicate that performance?
Wait, don’t answer. We all know the answer.
This deserves a wide spread audience.
Newt details Palin’s accomplishments like no other. The reporter looked stunned and knew he couldn’t let Newt continue. In fact, Newt was probably convincing the reporter.
Then once the reporter stands down, Newt smiles. HA !
Loved his defense of Sarah Palin. Spot On.
Amen.
You may have a point on the style of that performance. But on substance, I can at least count on Santorum and Bachmann to get rid of ALL of Obamacare, and not keep the 300 pages that they happen to like. With Santorum or Bachmann, I won't get stuck with GingrichCare.
For another thread I found the Hannity report of 4/15/2009 where Newt participated in the NY Tea Party; proving his bona fides.
I had not known that - and I suspect many Newt bashers don’t either.
