As far as the actual topic of the thread, I hope the legal system weighs everything carefully. You're right when you say these numbers are arbitrary. If she'd been 17, it wouldn't be a crime, but presumably if she was 18, suddenly she's an adult and it's "rape." (Insulting to compare this to a violent assault, but some people enjoy using such words.)
I like how you pretend this wasn’t the incestual rape of a child by a grown woman.
What would the real personality be of a person who when offered reasonable debate devolves into personal insults which have to removed by the Admin?
Because only one party has done that here.
It is a shame about the law, though. A 23 year old aunt should be as free to rape her underage nephew as a 17 year old aunt. That is your point, correct?
“but presumably if she was 18, suddenly she’s an adult and it’s “rape.” (Insulting to compare this to a violent assault, but some people enjoy using such words.)”
That is another reason why I am so strongly opposed to so many of these situations being referred to as “rape”. It is demeaning to those who have really been victims of rape which is truly a horrible crime.
The boy in this case is old enough to know better. He was just as wrong as she was and yet he gets “victim” status and she gets a sex offender record. They were BOTH behaving badly. There was no victim here that I can see.
