A 911 hang up call Manatee County Sheriff's officials believe was initiated by a dog, resulted in the dog getting shot in Bradenton on Sunday morning.
According to MCSO spokesperson Dave Bristow, Deputy Will Kelley responded to a home on West 21st Street to check on a 911 hang up when the owner opened the door of the home, but was unable to keep the dogs inside.
Bristow said the dogs' owner, Kathleen Derosa, opened the door and tried to squeeze out without letting her two roughly 65 pound Bull Mastiff-Pit Bull mix dogs get out.
The dogs forced their way out of the door and began aggressively lunging and trying to bite the deputy, Bristow said.
Kelley retreated to avoid the dogs, but was forced to shoot one of the dogs.
The dog was taken to the vet. The dog's condition is unknown at this time. Kelley was uninjured.
Bristow said the 911 call is believed to have been generated by the dogs stepping on the phone inside the house.
Dogs don’t lunge and “try” to bite.
Either they are GOING to bite or are making a point that you should get off of the property.
Deputy Dick is just scared of dogs.
the dogs were ordering food
to pitbulls, deputies must taste like pizza

People that love their pets - it won’t matter how much money they get, they’d rather have their pet alive.
Very misleading header.
Fear of water, snakes and dogs is inescapable for some and they should not be entering homes. Calling back and using a megaphone would be appropriate. A SWAT team would encounter the same problem.
So far, my dogs have only changed the channel with the TV remote. I better talk to them about making prank 911 calls.
Am I the only one who thinks the owner who had zero control of her dogs is at fault?
Train your dogs, and if you own a pit that goes double.
If the dogs indeed lunged out the door, I agree.
***to pitbulls, deputies must taste like pizza***
Probably smelled like donuts. :>)
