Want to consider something for a change, rather than simply accept mass advertized "free trade" propaganda from Walmart during this season, to be buying crap made in China?
Someone seems to have forgotten the /s tag. :D
As I said, we need to keep the Chinese goods out of our markets at least until they stop aiming nuclear missiles at the West Coast. They’re dumping the stuff in violation of a treaty. They’re a hostile country. We need to do whatever we can to damage them.
The reason Americans buy Chinese trash is that it’s dirt cheap. (You can do that when you use slaves.) If the price is significantly increased to the point that i’s well above American and other countries’ competitive stuff, then consumers will buy that stuff instead.
Way back when, everything CHEAP was made in Japan. Now old things made in Japan or Occupied Japan are collectors items...Japan puts out some nice things now a days and they are no longer our deadly enemy as they once were. They tried to kill us and did kill a lot of our men during the war...China hasn't done that yet...
America will have collapsed economically by then.
We cannot race slave labor, to the bottom.
We cannot. We will lose. Badly.
Not necessarily. And we wouldn’t be “racing slave labor to the bottom.” We’d be forcing up prices on the slave labor goods (and NOT on their competitors) so as to cut down on teh purchase of slave-labor goods and damaging the economy of a hostile country that seeks to do us harm.

Yeah, I’d pretty upset if someone managed to so easily rubbish my idea. You want Americans to pay more for living. I notice you don’t refute what I say.
You’re an importer.
From China.
No?
Agreed. IOW, Americans get to pay more to sate your moral indignation. Got it.
It’s not about my moral indignation. It’s about national security. It’s simply a way to weaken our most powerful enemy.
Well we could so that, with import tariffs.
Otherwise we’re screwed.
In right-to-work states; otherwise, the unions will see to it that it costs an arm and a leg.
I guess I am. I buy stuff from everywhere. And you want me to 1) Pay more for it and 2) Ship the difference to DC.
No? Am I mistaken in how tariffs work? Are you proposing to tax something heavily? Where do you think the tax money goes?
I don’t buy from China at Christmas time. The commies oppress Christians and chase women down like dogs to kill their babies. I received a Christmas ornament made in China last year and I tossed it in the trash but kept the sweet thoughtfulness of the giver in my heart.
More and more limo-corporate America is taking on the same fascist, disrespectful attitude over here. We are way too tolerant of amoral elitists in America. They are ruler wannabes. We could break their necks in one well organized boycott and they should never forget that. It works both ways. :)
I have visited China. Trade shows go on all the time for many industries and hire Chinese company representatives that work to promote U.S. sales in China.
Met our reps in China, gone to many dinners with them and worked trade shows there. The reps serve as translators and negotiators.
However, there is enormous risk as the Chinese want our proprietary information so as to reproduce themselves. It is very difficult doing business with them, once a deal is established, as China does not recognize some contract stipulations.
Only sell to U.S. companies already established in China.
If you want t ban the imports, then ban the imports. Don’t distort the market with extra taxes.
Which is exactly why Hussein wouldn't allow it.
I'd lvoe to see someone buy up "Motors Liquidation Corporation" (old GM) and stop liquidating, but instead put it in the car business.
Mightly oblique way of admitting you’re part of the problem, imho.
Are you an importer from China?
Please answer the question.
Wow!
Very convincing, detailed and cutting response.
If you stick with that response it'll make a believer out of the whole world!
