As I’m sure you know all about US history and geography and the like. I don’t fault non-US people for that. We can’t all know everything. But that doesn’t mean we don’t know a little something and it could be correct.
Listen, honestly I have nothing against Canada, per se. I’m simply expressing an honest opinion that perhaps Canada is “forgotten” because - well, it was basically not fully its own country for the vast majority of its history. Britain learned its lesson and no more did it get overly tyrannical with its own brethern-based colonists, rather letting gradual independence grow.
we have been our own country since 1867. fought in two world wars under our own flag and left over 100,000 dead on the battlefield. we chose to retain our strong ties to the mother country whereas the u.s.a. chose not to. It is important to remember that american colonists who remained loyal to england during your revolution moved to canada and were our founders and primary nation builders. my ancestors immigrated north from pennsylvania and pioneered the settlement of alberta in the late 1890’s and today i have a son and 4 grandkids in new jersey. our two countries are connected at the hip economically and culturally. do a little more research and i think you will be a little less myoptic. we manage the second largest piece of real estate on the planet are your largest trading partner, you may think we are forgotten, but believe me, the rest of the world knows who the hell we are.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Canada
