LOS ANGELES (AP) — A yacht captain said on national TV Friday that he lied to investigators about Natalie Wood's mysterious death 30 years ago and blames the actress' husband at the time, Robert Wagner, for her drowning in the ocean off Southern California.

The circumstances of her death remain one of Hollywood's enduring mysteries and continue to create renewed intrigue, with homicide detectives on Thursday unexpectedly re-opening the case that had long been classified as a tragic accident.

It happened to a friend of my father inlaw in Camden , ME harbor

So what? That has nothing at all to do with this specific situation.

Because someone was reported drunk by someone and they drowned, that automatically means that's what happened? Come on.

This guy is full of it. I saw where he also said that Walken lied and covered up the death for Wagner.

I've read RObert Wagner's autobiography, as well as two well-written bios of Natalie Wood. It's a fact supported by documentation from the restaurant on Catalina Island that Wagner, Wood, and Walken drank a great deal of booze that evening. There may have been a heated argument, as often happens when people are drunk, but I think poor Natalie Wood just fell off the boat, hit her head, and died and that Wagner and Walken passed out drunk around the same time. I don't believe Wood was murdered.

When she fell into the water, drunk, Natalie was wearing a full length down coat. She was face down, the coat spread out above her, waterlogged. She not only couldn’t swim, she was terrified of “dark water,” so this was her nightmare and she panicked. Instead of shucking the coat, she fought it, and it just held her under so she couldn’t splash or call out. Apparently she scratched at the dingy, but that was about it. It was horrible, but explainable without murder, because it could have happened fast and quietly.

YES..Everyone pretty much thinks that Wagner had something to do with it. They were drinking..arguing about her flirting with Christopher Walken...hey, she had humiliated him once when she left him for Warren Beatty and he took her back and remarried her. Crime of passion...

Or else she was drunk and fell...

I'm not so sure that you should be accusing anybody of murder.

No, I am sure. You absolutely should not.

She couldn’t swim and was very afraid of water. So I imagine she just struggled and flayed about. Sad. Named my daughter after her.

I am not accusing...I am speculating. I am sure Robert Wagner doesn’t give a crap what I think.

My dad couldn't swim either until my grand dad tossed him in the river. Nowadays they call it child abuse. Back then they called it growing up. He never became a strong swimmer-but he sure could tread water!

A drowning person fights hardest just before they go under for the last time. A tragic ending regardless. Alcohol. Heavy coat. Perhaps head struck. Inability to swim. Many factors in this equation.

Why didn’t Natalie take a shower on the yacht?

She wanted to wash up on shore.

It’s idiotic to point any blame at Robert Wagner. He adored Natalie, married her twice. The LA sheriff has already ruled out Wagner as a suspect. Wagner, or RJ as he known, is beloved in Hollywood. One of the good guys.
