After reviewing the death of famed actress Natalie Wood Wagner in 1981, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department ruled it accidental.
Now authorities are reopening the case, according to an announcement from the department issued late Thursday afternoon.
"Recently Sheriff's Homicide Investigators were contacted by persons who stated they had additional information about the Natalie Wood Wagner drowning," according to the LASD.

Detectives decided to reopen the investigation into the death of actress Natalie Wood in part because of statements made by the captain of the boat Wood was on at the time of her death.
L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca told The Times that homicide detectives want to talk to the captain based on comments he had made recounting the case on its 30th anniversary. Baca did not detail what the captain said regarding the case.
“He made comments worthy of exploring,” Baca said.
A law enforcement source added that the department had recently received a letter from an unidentified "third party" who said that the captain had "new recollections" about the case. The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing.

I was an extra in “Marjorie Morningstar” in 1958. Scenes filmed at Schroon Lake in upstate NY. I met Gene Kelly, Natalie and Robert Wagner....even got his autograph! Was a blast for a week.
She said she would wash up on shore later.
The most impressive thing on that list is the list of pallbearers. All are sadly gone as well now.
Wood played Maggie the Cat in TV’s version in the 70s.

Yeah, death is usually not a recoverable situation.
I remember when this happened. I was on a tour bus in Switzerland. The joke on the bus was.....what kind of wood doesn’t float? Tour guide told us that one.
