Actually, in economy China is more free in many areas, e.g. less regulation. Also, economy is growing so it is the place to start business.
My former coworker, us citizen of chinese origin, went back few months ago and got executive position.

I was in Shanghai on business and I was shocked that it only ONE PAPER to fill out just to open a store in downtown Shanghai and pay the equivalent of $77 for the business annual tax AND license. Here in America, I had to talk to my lawyer, make sure my 50 pages of tax forms are in order and pay an arm and a leg just to submit a license.
The Chicoms I hate, but the Chinese I know are business-minded. I would rather have them vs the Mexican ungrateful freeloaders.
