It'd be my guess, judging from parental experience, that it was either congestive heart failure or - probably more likely - pneumonia. Pneumonia was the cause of my grandmother's death in '09. She passed at the age of 94.
If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.Or you can get raw with these strings. Either way, the violin is sweet yet lethal.
Do it!

With a large enough bankbook, he’ll drag it out. (sorry couldn’t resist)

Because he was a WWII vet I gave him a little slack. Otherwise he was just another liberal geezer at most. Vet? Give me a break! He was a pacifist correspondent who didn't believe in war. He did believe in socialism.

Perhaps you should share your feelings about this forum with Jim? Is that supposed to scare me?
FAIL
I find rejoicing in death about as offensive as it gets. What part of "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us is hard to understand?
Here, ya go. Since you failed to do so (already got enough brownie points?)....Ping to Jim Robinson.
There is a LOT to like about this forum. There are a few things that disappoint and dismay me. I'll point them out when I see them.

Nobody including myself is rejoicing in his death. Like Cain says, “Americans need to learn how to take a joke.”
I’m curious what Jim thinks about your slam of FR, “Perfect example of why I would never invite anyone to join this forum.”
Grow up or join DU. They along with Romney’s campaign welcome whiners like you.

You seem obsessed with what Jim thinks about my posts. I went ahead and pinged him. And now again.
I frankly do not care what he thinks. I broke no rules and my comments have nothing to do with Romney.
I’m done with you. If the Boss has anything to say about this silly exchange, (which I doubt) I’ll reply to him.

Then why ping him? Like I said, grow up.

I thought it was well know that forum courtesy is to ping another FReeper when you mention his / her name in a post. You brought Jim’s name into it and failed to ping him.
There’s a good takeaway for you, which I felt worthwhile to extend the discussion. Now - really finished with you.

I find rejoicing in death about as offensive as it gets.
We SHOULD rejoice in the deaths of human scum like (short list here) 0sama bin Laden, the Assahollah Khomeini, that little North Korean runt Kim Jong il (when he finally croaks off), Mullah Omar and those Taliban scumbags, and do you know why?
Here is why: Almighty God Himself created DEATH, death serves as a necessary tool to enforce His Word which states "the wages of sin is death" (from Romans 6:23) for ALL men must die, none are spared, "but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
If someone checks out and believes in Jesus Christ, has placed their soul in His Hands, they will have eternal life with Him, no matter how undeserving they are. On the other side of the coin, when a truly evil person meets that Grim Reaper (like bin Laden), or someone who has embraced atheism and the denial of God through their entire life, there is no shame in celebrating, because DEATH has demonstrated once again that God's Justice will not be escaped, nor evaded in any way.
Now in the case of the late Andy Rooney, I was mostly indifferent to him, I couldn't care less about his overly verbose rants and ravings, he made bombast his meal ticket, good for him.
He also embraced atheism and denied God. As long as he was sucking oxygen, it was good and proper for anyone to pray for his eternal salvation. But once the ticker quit ticking?
Too bad, so sad. He made his choice, and he chose badly. IF perchance with his last gasp he were to have said "oh Lord Jesus, save me!" you can be assured that he is even now in the Glory of the Lord, in Heaven above. I hope he did that.
Unfortunately, the body of evidence (no pun intended) he left behind suggests that he denied any and every Deity and sadly: died in his sins.
