The majority of media outlets are attempting to deal with the Occupy Wall Street phenomenon as any other mass movement that pops up out of nowhere with a clearly defined voice and message.
The implication here is that OWS has a clearly defined message. So far, I haven't seen it ... anyone? anyone? Their most common message seems to be petty crime and poor hygiene.

I haven't seen the lamestream media point any fingers at 'rats regarding OWS. This is a vacuous defense of the media.
The protesters are not hyper-political or previously even politically active...
Sounds like the author is trying to draw parallels with the TEA Party. The TEA Party did in fact draw out many people who had not been to political rallies before. (I'm one of them!)

Throwing the BS flag on this one. The people in and behind OWS are exactly the people to blame for the current economic situation. The economy isn't trashed because of big business. It is trashed because of poor fiscal policy including runaway spending, huge deficits, entitlements, big government, and anti-capitalist, pro-socialist policies and attitudes. It has been people just like you that have elected people that put these policies into effect, causing the housing bubble and subsequent crisis, debt, and collapse.
In short OWS'er. If you want to know why you don't have a good job and a little economic security and freedom...look in the mirror. It is you, and other ignorant people just like you, that failed econ 101 or never paid attention. You've allowed yourselves to be manipulated by the big-government socialists into believing you're entitled to all kinds of things, that you have "rights" to this or that and the government will ensure you get them - if you just give these guys more power, more control. Well, here's a brief history lesson kiddies - socialism sucks. Socialism has failed to create a prosperous and happy society every single time it has been tried. It is failing again, here, right now and dragging us and our Country down.
So instead of sitting in your own filth in a park somewhere, clean yourself up, get a job - any job. If you can publicly live in squalor in a park, then there is no job beneath you. Make something of yourself and your community. There are no handouts, no free lunch, nobody owes you a thing for simply sitting there converting oxygen into CO2.
But I disagree somewhat with your comment about a clearly defined message. They do have a message and, while not clearly defined, it is clearly Marxist. They are after an end to Capitalism and the installation of a Marxist government. That is why you see no real objection to Obama. They know that he represents their best chance of achieving their goal. Scary stuff to say the least.

Read it. There is a bit of libertarianism in it but those elements are swamped by the Marxist content.
Note also that it infers a level of organization or at least organizational goals that have not been widely discussed in the MSM or even here on FR.
