Massachusetts should be able to decide for itself who can carry concealed handguns within its own borders Sure. And Massachusetts should be allowed to decide which parts of the Constitution are available to its citizens and visitors.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. The BG editor also ought to take a look a crime statistics in Boston and compare those with other CCW friendly cities of similar size.
He might learn that criminals are more restrained when they know the potential victim pool is armed!!

As part of the test for getting a Massachusetts CCW permit, residents should show proof that they can find their way out of a corn maze or apple orchard without having to dial 9-1-1.

When I lived up in that area the MA handgun law was a joke that made life miserable for little old ladies, people traveling through the state, retired policemen, etc., while being routinely plea-bargained away in actual criminal cases.

The Muslim who went on a shooting rampage in Salt Lake City chose Trolley Square, a shopping center that bans guns.
