One day a man heard a knock at his front door, and so he went to answer it. Opening the door, he saw no one there — only a snail on his doorstep, so the man picked up the snail and tossed it across the street. Two months later, he heard another knock on his door. Again he opened the door, only to see the same snail on his doorstep. This time, the snail said, “Hey, what was that all about?”
