I blame the left. They have been Balkanizing the U.S. for close to 100 years. Separating us into groups. All this multicultural crap as if what folk dances you do and what ethnic food you eat matters one jot. When the government favors one group over another then men have no choice but to gather into ever larger and more oppositional groups to battle for that favor. It’s only a matter of time before it all drops in the pot.
Are you old enough to remember the phrase “Melting Pot?”
It wasn’t 100 years ago. I remember it. I remember in Montreal us Jewish kids fighting with the Italians and the Greeks and the other ethnic groups - some of which didn’t even have names! (sometimes but- sometimes playing together also), but because it was instinctive, not because the schools or politicians or anyone else was pointing out or ‘celebrating’ the differences. In fact, we all came together at times like Christmas - even a Jew like me! Because what we all wanted to be, what we all strove to be, were Canadians before everything else.
Honestly, I don’t know if it was politicians from the left or the right or both that started accenting the differences, so they could play on those - the start of a kind of class or ethic war, I guess. Whatever, the left owns it now, for sure.
