Cain won. I never disliked him, but I really like him now.

As far as the electibles, Romney defended himself well enough on Romneycare, which is a shame. Perry defended Gardasil well enough. I doubt we hear about it again. Unfortunately, Perry stinks at debating and will never be able to make the other 49 states understand why Texas can't just alienate the Hispanic voters. I think he bought Hispanic votes by not trying to veto the in-state tuition. Pandering? Okay. Whatever. I'm glad he did it because we would have a Democrat governor if he hadn't. That's what Rush was saying. If we lose Texas (by alienating the Hispanic vote), we lose the country. That is very hard to explain to people that don't or won't understand, and it may well finish him. We may have a President Romney after all.

I think that is what is so funny. Politicians are, well, political. Romney clearly supported RomneyCare because he wanted to pander to his leftist state. Perry wanted to pander to the hispanic base in Texas. . .and you aren’t winning without doing so. This is actually why Obama fears Perry so much. Obama is counting on the hispanic vote to carry him to victory. Along comes Perry and suddenly Obama is facing losing a large chunk of that base.

Anyway, I digress, each of these two guys have political baggage and I can’t decide which is worse? ObamaCare/RomneyCarer or free education for Pedro. But I do know that smiling smooth Mitt is getting a free pass and it has to end, soon.

It is difficult to explain, yes. You can’t rule in a state that is 40% or 50% Hispanic by just taking a hardline on immigration. Arizona did it though.

Not so fast. I understand that you have to pander to Hispanics in Texas but not the whole United States. This will probably be the last election this will be true.

Perry didn’t have to veto the bill. All he had to do is not sign it and it would have become law anyway.

6.8% of the electorate is Hispanic (of which the majority is Caucasian). Of that 6.8%, 38% vote R.
In 2008, 125, 225,901 people voted.
8,515,361 were Hispanic and 3,235,837 voted R.

If McCain received all of the Hispanic vote he still would have lost by 3,259,035 votes.
