I wanted to love this show...so far I’m not impressed. The usual “single mother sob story” and a lot of stupid people taking their shot at fame.

Marcus’ granddad looks like Stanley from The Office in 15 years.

Putting the Geo debacle behind us, we move onto Marcus, a 20 year old student.
He sings (and nails) a Stevie Wonder song. VERY GOOD.
LA Reid compares him to a young Bobby Brown.
Niclole: You're what we've been waiting for.
Paula: You illuminate the room.
Stevie Wonder is on Simon's Do-Not-Sing-List, but he's pleasantly surprised by Marcus.
Simon: You are one to watch.
Four yesses for Marcus. His family runs out on stage and hugs him.

It doesn’t come on in my area for another 1 1/2 hours, yet you folks have already convinced me that this just isn’t going too be my cup of tea.

It’s like bizarro AI. Instead of Coke, there’s Pepsi. Instead of AT&T, there is Verizon. Instead of short blonde host, we get a tall brunette host...

The judges praise entirely too effusive for the reality of the talent.
The scripting silly and not believable.
The drama maudlin and beyond melodrama up to greek tragedy proportions.
Simon is so NOT the Simon we once knew.
....I’m writing a highly critical review tomorrow. Which is not to say I won’t continue watching (indeed I get paid to do so),but it looks to me like Simon wanted a show of his own, hyped it to high heaven, copied elements from a bunch of other shows, used his name and reputation to get a bigger prize than any...and we have....
THE XFactor....American Idol With Benefits.
To: retrokitten
If she pissed Pauler off, I say we keep her.
