The statement was not substantiated with evidence.
Anyone have any knowledge of Perry's position on "fair trade" please? (fair trade, as opposed to the national self-destruct policy inaccurately called "free trade"), which is really just unilateral American industrial and financial surrender.
Thanks in advance.
Perry’s dinner at a fine restaurant with Trump was widely reported on the local news up here in New York, and the story this morning is, Mitt is also on The Donald’s calendar for a dinner date.
Trump is now being referred to by local media as a “kingmaker”.
Makes both Perry and Mitt look like they are running about two months behind Palin.
Governor Perry also has a state to run. He finally declared...then it began appropriate to see Trump...and I can’t even imagine what Trump could tell him, he doesn’t already know. So what is the new date for Sarah Palin to announce?
“Governor Perry also has a state to run.”
Yeah, and he’s not running it.
Instead, he is chasing around the country going on dinner dates with The Donald at the one of the most expensive retaurants New York has to offer.
The nerve of a couple of multimillionaires eating at an expensive restaurant!
Anyone know whether Perry shares any Trump views on unfair trade practices, particularly by China?
That’s potentially a game-changer for me.
Palin thus far has my support. Though I’m starting to cool a bit on that, because I’m frankly getting tired of waiting.
If Perry’s actually pro-American on trade, rather than the squishy open-borders globalist I’d begun to believe he is, I might just re-assess.
So. Is Perry a globalist “free trader”? Or pro-America?
Can’t be both.
He waited until the legislature’s session finished for the year before beginning his campaign. Try again.
Perry’s grown jobs and businesses in the State of Texas - and that’s been 40% of ALL jobs created in the US in the last 3 years. His position is clearly the right one for America - rather than throwing around slogans and words, he’s actually grown the job market and fostered the creation and growth of small business.
Maybe you should look at the results of the candidate - what they’ve done - rather than just what they preach?
Last night he spoke in Houston at THE LONE SURVIVOR FOUNDATION GALA with Marcus Littrell.
Again, what is the new date for Sarah Palin to declare?
We need to support whatever frontrunner that has an r after their name and get this douche out of office..
Cool rhetorical question. Here's another one.
Running for president is a full time job. So what other full time job does Perry currently hold at the same time as he is running for president?
Fixing America’s trade policy (which is currently surrender) is to me, what RBKA is to some FReepers.
Pretty much my one-issue.
I won’t vote for a globalist.
So then being governor of Texes isn't a full time job when the legislature isn't in session?
“He waited until the legislatures session finished for the year before beginning his campaign. Try again.”
Okay, I’ll try one more time to explain it to you again. The Governor is the State’s Chief Executive. He is expected to execute the laws of the state, whether or not the legislature is in session or not. He is well-paid by the taxpayers to perform this function; the legislators are not. He was not elected, nor is he supposed to be paid, to turn over his responsibilities as governor to his minions while he mounts a presidential campaign. Being Governor is itself a fulltime job. This state is facing many problems right now that need the Governor’s complete attention.
Running for president is a full time job. So what other full time job does Perry currently hold at the same time as he is running for president?
Apparently the same job a 2008 VP candidate had. Next question?
BOOM goes the dynamite!
Well played!
Oh.
I was replying to you, when it went off.
You had proffered Buicks sold in China as an American export success.
Where do you suppose those Buicks are made?
On Chinese factories, by Chinese workers who compete with Americans.
Why is that, do you suppose?...
(it’s a rhetorical question, but an important one)
Trump has stated that the BC that he and Corsi forced Obama to release needed to be subjected to forensic analysis.
Note that in the same week that Perry meets with Trump, Perry also confers with Joe Arpaio who is most immediately in the news this week for publicly agreeing to investigate whether Obama’s BC meets forensic tests.
Arpaio and Trump should both be toxic to Perry if Perry believed the MSM and Rovian framing that “birtherism” is poison. I suspect that Perry and his team have been convinced that there is something to the claims of Corsi’s forensic experts and that Obama can be taken out at the right moment (after it is too late for Hillary to enter Democratic primaries) by a coordinated attack on the Obama BC by Trump and Arpaio, which can only benefit Perry.
Where do you think most of the components of those Buicks come from? Where does the money go to? Why do American-imported Buicks sell as fast as they can import them - even faster than the domestic production versions?
As far as work force, what impact do you think automation has had on the number of people employed in manufacturing?
The solution isn't to tax our own citizens for purchasing imported goods (which is what a tariff really is - it doesn't tax the manufacturer of the imported product - it taxes the person who imported or buys the imported product) - it's to make our own business environment competitive.
We have the highest corporate income tax in the world. We have the highest regulatory environment in the world. We have a Government trying to dictate where our own businesses can expand (see NLRB versus Boeing). We have a Government that has broken the rights of business owners (bond holders and shareholders) in favor of unions.
Our Government is the problem; the solution is to take trade away from it, and give it back to the players and the market. Get Government out of trying to manage trade - because it's clearly not doing anything correct right now.
Again, perfectly said.
On FR there is a contingent of leftover protectionist Republicans who do not recognize that we can't turn back the clock to when the world wasn't connected and globalized. Many of these types fear competition, think isolationism can work again, do not understand that it is government undermining much of our ability to compete and don't get how much unions (indeed just the threat of unionization) has contributed to destroying manufacturing and industry in the US.
They are a small minority, but these folks are your former Perot voters, were attracted to Trump's idiotic blather, and the same types that are bitter someone like Thad McCotter can't and won't catch on.
