On my way to work that morning, there was a cloud overhead that greatly resembled the head of Sarah Palin. It was such a sight to behold that I drove somewhat erratically as I gazed up at the cloud through my sun roof. I was subsequently pulled over by a state trooper and I pointed out the cloud to him and asked him if that cloud did not resemble Sarah Palin. He agreed that it did and let me off with a warning.
As the trooper pulled away, it suddenly struck me that the initials for the State Police are also the same initials as Sarah Palin. Then everything started making sense in a strange kind of way.
It was certainly a bizarre morning and I wish I had set the events of that morning to lyrics as it would have formed the basis of a mid-1960s Bob Dylan song. But now my memory of that morning is foggy and I can't even remember what exactly it was that I saw in my oatmeal.
Anyway, watching the debates last night, I am convinced more than ever that if either Perry or Romney get the nod, we are in for another very disappointing presidency as neither of those guys are going to change anything very much at all. It will be the same old, same old, and in four or eight years, the Democrats will be back in the White House again.
Perry may end up surprising me, but we have to remember that if he were to get the nomination, he'd have to moderate his message and run toward the middle in the final leg of the race.
Thanks for the smile this morning.
