The President read Psalm 46 this morning at the September 11 memorial in New York. If he had been familiar with text he would have know that Bow - is a reference to a weapon of war like in bow & arrow. Two more weapons of war follow in verse 9 - the spear & chariot. Instead he pronounced the word as Bow - to been at the waist, the front of a boat, or limb of a tree.
He breaks the bow...He says, “Be still, and know that I am G-d"
Of course, the King and the rest of the guests looking on; can hardly believe what they are seeing. Same as in post by Hoodat, below; as he bows to Japan's Emperor; where the look of bemusement; if not laughable shock; owns this shot. Would like to think some of these insulting - to America - gaffes would be at least a shadowy backdrop to Campaign ads. Am sure, of course, they will never be.
Perhaps they fear Obama will 'off their heads' should they go there. . .and as we know Obama; perhaps not an unreasonble consideration; should that be the case.
The 'One Most Arrogant'. . .does not like to be reduced to the absurd; despite this being, precisely where he belongs.
(And unlike GW; he will never resign himself to just taking it 'gracefully'; as the virtue of Humility; is an alien concept to Obama.)
