Word For The Day, Friday, 9/9/11
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
badinage;
noun 1. light, playful banter or raillery.
verb (used with object) 2. to banter with or tease (someone) playfully.
Etymology:165060; < French, equivalent to badin ( er ) to joke, trifle (verbal derivative of badin joker, banterer < Old Provençal: fool; bad ( ar ) to gape (< Vulgar Latin batāre; compare bay2 ) + -in < Latin -īnus -ine1 ) + -age -age
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
The majority of the political badinage today will be about the Obamatrocity of a speech last night. The laughline about it not being class warfare was particularly amusing.

Ooh I love that Clapton song - “Badinage.” “Thinking ‘bout the times you rode in my car, thinking that we might have gone too far.”
is badinagility kind of like obamatrocity?
Heard last night’s speech?
Yeah, we’re in a badinage for one more year - at least.
A+++ one does wish that the issue would gain traction and more forceful questioning might increase the chances.
good one Ceej!! A++++
yes, robt, we are indeed. A
It is like a finger pointing away to the moon...Do not concentrate on the finger, or you will miss the right hand thats poised to rip your arm off and beat you with the bloody end.
No badinage there.
you gotta love the guy.
A+++ he would use the bloody stump to beat the coyote threatening his dog, too : )

No. He shoots them.
Now we need to figure out where a democrat is on the spectrum between a member of his own party, and a wile. e. coyote.
I’m wearing a Yale sweatshirt today that one of the Prof’s recent graduates gave me. She just started Grad School at Yale in Theatre Costume Design. Probably the closest I’ll ever get to Ivy League.
Half of the 2011 graduates went to graduate school, most on full rides. 2 at Yale, 1 at Brown, 1 at NYU, 3 at American Conservatory in SF, 1 at Julliard, and a smattering at other programs. The other half got jobs. One of them is Assistant House Manager at The Globe in London, another is a Production Assistant for Disney. You can make money with a Theatre Degree if you’re talented and hardworking, I guess.
Hotair blog pimps AP’s takedown of the Zero speech.
AP fact check skewers Porkulus II: Economic Boogaloo speech
Fitting youtube quote at the end.

Is that the most clueless expression on Paul’s face, or what? He’s about to get Rick-rolled, ROR!
I’d love to know what was really said.
I was shocked when Drudge posted it but I could only see the finger wag.
Seeing the larger version where he’s outright grabbing him, to get in his face, is pretty bad ass.
