Even though this thread has suffered a catastrophic failure to live up to it's title, it's still highly amusing. Ace of Spades had an amusing post yesterday encouraging everyone to stop being restrained, and just come out swinging at candidates they hate. That was a straight up good time.

We could use that here. Everyone's so tense. Folk's tripping over themselves to swing at the Perry pinata, trying to make a space for Palin to jump in. Assuming she doesn't, there's going to be about 15 minutes of silence, followed by a gawd-awful bloodletting that won't be over until we have a nominee.

The race is down to Romney and Perry. Cain and Bachmann aren't going any further than they've already gotten. The others weren't going anywhere to begin with. Romney V Perry. It'll be ugly, though, until the others drop out. "Cain's only fallen to .04%! Anyone who says he can't win this thing is an lousy RINO, MSM spouting Obama-clone!1!1!" That sort of thing.

If Palin jumps in the race, FR will become as unhinged as it has not been since right before Y2K. It'll be like six months of throwing puppies and crack cocaine into a shark tank. Just teeth, blood and rage, 24/7. If she loses the nomination or the general, we'll experience more prolonged close-quarters hate and bitterness that Maureen Dowd's vibrator.

And of course, if she wins, then angels will sing, and he heavens will part, and things won't really be that bad. (Until she has her own TTC and Guardasil scandals, but that's another story.) If she runs, anything result less than a total Palin win, and this sort of thread is going to be the norm for a while. Even if she doesn't, it'll take some time for this joint to cool down some. But boy, we're in for some fun threads until then. ;-)

As of now I’ll go with Cain. Perry has lot of linen to wash clean. I really like Palin but there is something in my mind that says she does not vibrate with the general public which will be needed to replace Obama. With any candidate it will be necessary to convince a large part of the public that Obama is/has to much of a shady pot smoking history to be worthwhile having the power/glory of the POTUSA. This will be a very tough sell to the freebies.

I'm not sure I'm looking forward to the all the "fun", but maybe I'll try to have your positive outlook on things, and perhaps that will help. :-)
