“... glob of that fake stuff full of chemicals”
I agree. I only use butter and nothing fake. Years back, someone told me that they had read an article about margarine. It said some pretty disgusting stuff about it. For example, this person put a stick of margarine outside. It didn’t melt and no bugs would touch it. They did the same with butter... it melted and bugs were all over it. If I read ingredients and there are chemicals that I don’t know... I would much rather stick with butter, milk, cream etc.

The choice between butter and margarine can be argued all day with both sides having good and bad opinions. Personally I believe one should limit the amount of either....unfortunately I don't follow my own advice. The process for making margarine in a factory most likely mimics in some ways the process taking place in a cow when it turns grass into milk!!!

I did nearly the same thing a few years ago.
I put two dishes out on our back deck. One had butter covered with birdseed, the other had margarine covered with bird seed.
The birds did not touch the margarine dish.
