I bet they don't miss seeing him.
Paula Deen may be a rat but she’s a Southern rat so I have to stick up for a Southern Lady! Anthony Bourdain is a condesending jerk....If he is in a backward third world country he is overjoyed to eat fried pig fat or pork belly with an fried egg on top....But let Paula Dean do it in the US and he is critical. He is accepting on any culture but the United States and routinely bashes them on his show while treating places like Cuba with “kid gloves”. I can’t stand to watch his show anymore............
I'll be happy if he never tries to make another “witty” reference to smoking crack cocaine.
You could also title this “New Yorkers, is there anything they don’t know?”
Hey, where’s all your foodie recipe thread buddies?
While we’re on the subject of TV chefs, the only, and I mean ONLY chef on TV worth watching, EVER, was ‘Dave the Cook’ on Northern Exposure!
I watch a few cooking shows to be entertained not to learn to cook as I’m married to the company chef. Guy Fieri is in his hometown of Ferndale Ca. He comes home every year for the Humboldt County Fair where he got his start with a fresh Pretzel Cart. I heard him doing a promo on KINS radio for the fair this morning. He gives away a free cart to some Ferndale school student. His parents have Dave’s Saddlery in Frendale
I’m not a big Bourdain fan, although I occasionally watch his shows, the ones where he goes to locations I have an interest in (like Southeast Asia). Personally I prefer Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre Foods. Bourdain is basically an alcoholic and it’s surprising in this policically correct day and age that he can get away with being a drunk on a TV show (I guess because it’s a cable show and because he’s an aging, hippy liberal). Not since the days of Otis of Mayberry has there been such acceptance and even embrace of a “town drunk” type on television. But I knew Otis, Otis was a friend of mine, and Mr. Bourdain, you sir, are no Otis.
