There are no guns for guys.
There are guns.
There are people.
People with all sizes and shapes of hands.
People with widely varied tolerance for mechanical complexity.
People with widely varied physical strength.
The question is not "What's a good gun for a girl?" or "What's a good gun for a guy?"
The question is "What's the right gun for YOU?"
I can't answer that for you. Neither can Captain Keyboard Commando.
Only YOU can find the right gun for YOU, and that by trying.
An experienced shooter or instructor can help.
That's best done in person.
Hey do you have that post saved so you can copy and paste tomorrow, next week, next month?
Is “Captain Keyboard Commando’ any relation to Captain Kangaroo?
WayneS (Handing Mrs. WayneS a plastic box containing the latest gun he wants... ...I mean, wants HER to try out to see how she likes): Honey, I bought another gun for you to try out! Maybe this one will fit you better than all those others. I sure hope so...
Mrs. WayneS (after examining/handling/shooting the weapon): I don't know, it's okay. I mean, I like it alright, but the grip's just a bit big for my hand. I just don't think this is 'the one'. I'm sorry, I know you put a lot of thought in to this, but it just isn't right for me...
WayneS: (trying to hide his ‘disappointment’): Okay. You're right. You absolutely should not compromise even a little bit on such an important decision. I want whatever gun you finally choose, to be absolutely perfect for you. I tell you what though, I'll just add this pistol to the gun cabinet, just in case you change your mind...
Sorry. Gotta disagree with you on that one.
Good list, very true.
I can hold a 1911-pattern single-stack .45 comfortably, whereas any double-stack is just too 'fat' to allow me a solid grip. A handgun is something that each person should size to their own frame, not someone's opinion of what is the most or best gun.
Good point.
Many years ago, I repeatedly gravitated toward the Walther PPK every time I visited various gun dealers over a period of time... it felt good every time I handled it, and I still appreciate it over others.
