I can grab some canned meat, what I worry about is people will eat it before they really need it and it just becomes waste.

It is hard to control people in an isolated communitiy sometimes.

There will be plenty of wild food available near by and I am sure to have several months of food. But I am not going to be able to stock a 2 or 3 year supply of meat.

I am going to stock a 5 year supply of grains, but that is pretty much it for long term stores.

Good on ya! It is a bit late in the game to start buying a truckload of meat, spendy to say the least! We started close to three years ago, so we're good to go for at least a year, more if I need to be the task master in a truly horrible shtf scenario. Canned meat is good for years and years... it will not go wasted in any event!
