I'm not trying to give you an alternative for the whole. I think you already have a good plan.
All I'm trying to do is tweak some points to make them better, or point out some weaknesses I see. I may, or may not have an alternative off the top of my head.
I still think you should check out geothermal both for power and/or heating.
I don’t think you understand how to be the Devil’s Advocate, you are supposed to offer the exact opposite then endorse it.
Not really helpful in this case at all but was curious since you were being pretty critical without offering anything to improve the situation.

Everyone there uses wood heat, there are thousands of acres of 180ft trees with a 1’6” diameter. Everyone just builds their house out of the wood already sitting there, they just bring in a saw mill to make the wood.
