"New look, same great taste," reads the slogan on Eight O'Clock Coffee's packaging. We beg to differ. The brand's 100% Colombian product, a favorite from our March 2009 report, delivered less flavor in our most recent tests. So (drum roll, please) our expert taste testers have found two new coffee winners.

Am not Yogi, but I do greatly admire his career and his way with words.
We usually use a French press or the Illy machine (uses cartridges). We used a Krups drip machine for years and it was perfectly fine. Sorry I’m not much help with that.
Oh, Lavazza!
Awesome thread. And, you’re ALL wrong! The best coffee is what you have on a lazy cold Sunday morning with your bacon, eggs, and toast, while perusing the FR. Well, as long as it’s fresh ground dark roast you make in a french press, with a bit of cream you skimmed off of your bottle of raw milk. Then you’re okay. :D
WE drink the 8 O’Clock because its cheap but my favorite is the Jamaica Blue beans from Costco. Mmmmmmm!!!
I like Tschibo (decaf and dark roast) and Dallmayr’s Dyawa Antara, a low acid great flavor coffee. Made 2 pots for a big breakfast with folks from the church and we had 4 cups left in the pot when we were done. Just enough for one last cup for me. (I have a big cup) :)
I used to use the same blend of Peet's in a french press I picked up at Target. When made strong, mixed with half-and-half and unrefined sugar, it was like a dessert. Almost tasted like chocolate. :)
Yea u rite catfish. Born in Baton Rouge within smelling distance from CC roastery. I live in Alaska but order CC by mail.
The best. Period.
Fresh ground daily here in GreenAcres. Stop by for a cup.
Funny side-story about Community Coffee. When we were in Haiti in the 1980's we had a work group visit from Baton Rouge. They brought us a case of Community Coffee. We went to visit with them in BR the next year when in the States.
They asked if we wanted to see the sights of the area and we certainly did. My wife asked if we could see the Community Coffee headquarters...our friends were perplexed and asked, why?
My wife said she wanted to see their Antebellum HQ building shown on the coffee package. She was disappointed to discover that the CC HQ was a factory and that the Antebellum house featured on the package was just art.
Coffee ping!
Might be good stuff.
Community Coffee in a communist red package?
Espresso machine.
Just “graduated” from the French press in April.
Sweet Maria’s rocks. I’ve been drinking nothing but home roasted since 2004.
Make sure you get one with a SS carafe.
I keep 750ml bottles of sugar-free Torani hazelnut syrup around for my wife. Can’t stand the stuff, personally, but it keeps her happy!

Plenty of variety. I like their Dark Sumatran: rich flavor, very low acid. Free shipping over 50 lbs.
Not necessarily. The "Blue Mountain" moniker can be twisted to mean many different things. The coffee grown between 1500 and 3000 ft on is known as Jamaica "High" grown. Plantations below that elevation produce an adequate, but inferior bean to the High Grown variety.
That said, even Jamaican High Grown or the best Kona beans can be ruined by poor roasting techniques. Good coffee is all about the roasting. Your best coffee flavor is going to come from your local roaster after a fresh roast. The best cupped coffee I've ever had was a "blend" from the roastery floor after sweeping up the days' mess. It was a serendipitous occasion never to be repeated.
My favorite bean (again roasted properly) is an Organic Mexican Chiapas or a Zambian Terranova. Pea berry beans also cup an excellent flavor. The single best cappuccino/espresso I've ever had comes from a small rastery/shop call Cafe Sant Eustachio in the heart of Rome. They have a secret brewing and foaming technique no one outside the family has been able to figure out.
