Which doesn’t disagree with my argument. I never claimed that the practice originated with Islam; Muslims are famous for co-opting a lot of practices and beliefs of other peoples (and distorting them, but that’s a topic for another thread.)
The information provided in the essay comes from more than Islamic sources. I don’t give a flip whether you believe everything in the essay. I don’t.
However, intellectual honesty compels me to acknowledge that cats are historically revered and beloved in Islam, just as they were historically worshiped as gods in ancient Egypt.
Personally, as a Christian, I am not threatened or bothered by this, any more than I am threatened or bothered by the knowledge that Hitler was a dog lover.
