Matthew 15. Jesus addresses the Syrophoenician woman, telling her that it is not right to take the children’s (Jews) bread and give it to the dogs (Gentiles). Granted, dogs weren’t regarded the same way we are today.
But the woman doesn’t give up, she responds in faith, pointing out that even a dog has “rights”—the rights to the crumbs and scraps that fall from the table (or are unfit for the family’s consumption.
Yup, I was right - the crumbs.
Not exactly a glowing endorsement.
