After a week gone (once again) ... now, Home!

nice trip back.. took in a LOT of sites & made many stops.

full speed on turnpike would have been about 4 hours. My lolly gagging trip was 9. I could never be married to a destination freak who wont stop to see what is around to see/enjoy

I had thought I would take in Ragtime Rick(friends who have a dixieland jazz group) at Trotters in Toledo Wed on way home. It took me 3+ hours to get through a short distance at rush hour in Chicago. Stupid to try that. Even when things were moving (other than that 3 hours) it was at snail pace. I should have stayed at WI state fair much longer, spent night outside of Milwaukee & went through Chicago PRIOR to morning rush hour today. Didn’t get through & out of fair grounds til about 4:30 finishing up taking pix of Braveheart in parade. When I stopped at 11:30 for night I was still 2 hours from Toledo. Today’s highlight was an alpaca ranch! what cutie pies they are.

On Tuesday I took a full day back roads of part of Door County in the peninsula. Took in a great winery, coast guard station, MANY lighthouses & beaches/resort towns, couple good restaurants and poked around to find many interesting things. I even found a home on the lake that might work out as a “survival camp” — Going Galt anyone?

It was an excellent trip. Love Wisconsin. So many great things (esp cheese). would like to return and one way will be through Michigan upper peninsula to Northern WI. My two main events were our friend Mozie (FReeper MozartLover) as Keyboardist in wonderful professional production of Phantom of Opera. It was at St. Norberts college outside of Green Bay...The performance was outstanding in every sense. We then ate at Curly’s inside Lambeau Field. My goodness the Packers know how to do things right. VERY impressive.

And dear Braveheart. Most of you know this was the pup that was rescued from WV from a dumpster, abused, full of mange, skin/bones, many ailments. The rescuer made arrangements at the vet school at the University of Wisconsin to treat him. We all followed (about 11,000) on Facebook. Those that were able contributed to the vet school for his high costs. He was simply beautiful in parade. I teared up when I saw him proudly strutting his stuff. I Will post links to pix when I get them. Porably will do a short YouTube also.

He is in his “forever home” now for about 4 months & Lisa walked with him in the parade as well at the vets & techs who cared for him. You can find info on his ordeal on Facebook or just google him & there are lots of write ups on him The initial pix are heart breaking. Some of you have been following his story on Facebook

about 650 pix/videos to sort out & work up from the week gone. Again will stay emphatically I do miss mom, but it is wonderful to be able to travel freely.

Where I stayed with my friend Mark in Northern WI (real boonies) there was virtually no internet or cell service. I guess one needs a special satellite card? Not sure but would guess they would be expensive. 3 of the nights were spent with my friend who has 24 acres and a comfortable cottage (understatement) on Lake Michigan. The dogs had a ball there but did eat too many dead fish & we suffered the results ... and are still. Lots of extra trips outside.

I managed to loose two more sets of house/car key combos this trip. down to one. So must get some more made up. When I got the van,I made up 8 sets. One of my “strengths” in life is losing things. I am very good at that

It is always great to come here & see all your news, the great graphics and the love and friendship that is shared. We need more of that in life and a whole LOT LESS of the terrible negative politics /economic situation.
