Sharing The Word
August 4, 2011

Jerry McMorris began reading the Wall Street Journal 50 years ago as a student at the University of Colorado. His appreciation for that publication and for his alma mater led him to donate hundreds of WSJ subscriptions for CU’s business school students. McMorris told the Colorado Springs Gazette: “The Journal gave me a good, broad perspective of what was going on in the business world, and I got into the habit of reading it at the start of my business day. It helps get across to students real business-world issues.”

Many people enjoy introducing others to the writings that have shaped their lives. It’s not surprising, then, that followers of Christ enjoy sharing God’s Word with others. Some support Bible translation and distribution while others invite friends to study the Word with them. There are many ways to pass along God’s truth to people hungering for encouragement and help. Our goal is to enable others to experience the great benefit we’ve found in knowing Christ and being guided by His Word. The psalmist said, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple” (19:7).

The Word of God, which guards our hearts and guides our steps, is worth sharing with others.

As we read Your Word, O Lord,
Our spirit will be fed;
We then can share with others
That precious living bread. —D. De Haan

The Bible: Know it in your head, stow it in your heart, show it in your life, sow it in the world.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold. —Psalm 19:10

“Hungering for encouragement and help”,

that is key. It is God drawing them to hunger ... doing the drawing ... knowledge and acceptance of the fact that none are good ... no not one. “there is not one good” is an idea that many will not accept.

I have a dear friend, she tells me she is not a sinner, nor was she ever. She is one of the best people I know, generous, helpful efficient, has a thousand best friends she keeps in touch with regularly. Very supportive of a friend in need.
She tells me she is glad I found something in Christianity (she is (new age;). She does not read the Bible, and does not want to hear any of God's attributes, miracles or deeds or of Jesus whom she says was a good teacher. She does believe there is a God ... a principle and power ... she is believing she can activate it and it responds to her belief.

We were best friends for years, yet, we rarely see each other today because our belief does not agree, and it shows up in 30 minutes. She accepts all behaviors and says “what some think is evil others think is good” it is all relative, in her mind. ...
I do pray for her soul. I love her, and I do miss our previous relationship of 45 years. It is often hardest to tell of Jesus to our own family members, they can dismiss and or ignore truth, as this world is very important to them. She actually is an effective teacher of her belief system. Based on a religion she knows the man that created it was recent, Ernest Holmes, Church of Religious Science.

Everyday millions die without knowing Jesus Christ. This life has ended for them.

Romans 1:18-20 KJV ... says we are without excuse if we do not see Gods handwork in the universe.

It is all around us. Diversity, intricacies, his eternal power and Godhead are apparent to man.

Thank thee LORD, for thy plan and purpose, thy providing and sustaining of thy creation. Thou knows what we need before we have need of it. It seems strange there are so many unbelievers in this world. Forgive us, our stubborn rebellion and lack of obeying thy word, help us to see the error of our ways, in Jesus name and for his sake. Amen.
