What about that pesky fact that we dont control the Senate and WH?
Now you detail to me how you would get it done, because all of these drama queens here on FR never seemed to detail how that was going to happen.
This used to be an uplifting place to come to but lately it’s full of the most defeatest, negative, pessimistic thinking people around. It’s very depressing. To a lot of posters here the glass is not only not half full it doesn’t even have a drop in it. I think some of them are so used to getting outsmarted that they just can’t see that we won this one.
I still say this is a good deal that Republicans got considering we only have 1/2 of 1/3 of the government. The only thing Obama got that he wanted was to extend it past the next election. Frankly I also think that is in our favor because he will continue to screw up the economy so bad that unless we do something stupid we have an excellent chance to take both the senate and the white house and then we can really do some serious cutting. And by doing something stupid I mean having conservatives sit out the next election because they are to busy sitting at home pouting and sulking that we didn’t cut 10 trillion dollars up front.
What about the GOP-controlled House criticizing the Democrats and Obama instead of criticizing the Tea Party folks?
What about the GOP-controlled House describing the deal for what it is, dangerous to the future of our country, instead of slapping themselves on the back?

You didn't answer the questions that I asked you. Answer the questions.
But what we DO control is the House of Representatives -- the one body with a veto-proof stranglehold on federal spending. All spending bills must originate in the House, period. While the Senate may reject a House bill and the President may the veto a bill passed by both houses, not a penny can be appropriated unless it was first authorized by the House.
But let's say those scary, mean Senators reject the House budget... So what? The Senate can't originate its own version -- so if the Senate won't ultimately go along, nothing gets appropriated. And let's say the big, bad President vetoes a bill passed by both houses. So what? He can't spend what hasn't been appropriated. While the President may veto a bill, he cannot veto the absence of a bill -- so if the House fails to appropriate funds in the first place, the President can't do a damned thing about it.
The House of Representatives holds the ultimate power of the purse. The simple problem is that GOP "leaders" lack the courage to wield that power as the Founders designed it. We have chosen poorly, and we are about to suffer terribly for our poor choices...
A pretty stupid question. The way I would do it if I had control of the House is not cave in, and if the Senate and WH were interested, they could cave in to my demands. The other option would be default which is a good thing.
Seem WE is being attacked in very personal terms by the leadership of the Republican party.
Now you detail to me why I should trust them.
The Founding Fathers made the House the strongest branch because it was closest to the People.
