What a terrific story. Thanks for sharing that (I could almost visualize that entire scenario). And while our disabled can do many things, such as the gentleman you wrote about, legless and armless teenagers cannot do the kicks necessary for cheerleading.

btw, I do know a bit about disability as my mom is completely blind. So I don’t intend to be cruel here but there are limitations. Some are self imposed however. I wish my mom would realize there is more she could do to be more independent.

The guy I referenced worked at the Customs Buiding (not really customs, just federal offices) in the early to late 80's. If there are any federal employees who may have worked there here on FR, it would be great to know what became of him. I got my territory changed from the old city district to a home office job.

Does your mom have a speech synthesis application for a laptop? My mom had ALS and used her old Tandy Word Processor to talk right up until the end. It made her life much richer.
