I’ve used this technique when giving my cats any pills or liquids from a dropper. It does work.

I wish I had known about that when I tried to give my wife's cat a pill. I wrapped him in a towel to hold him while she tried to put the pill in his mouth and that bugger was so strong he freed one foreleg and sunk a claw in my hand as deep as it would go.

I had to admire his spirit though. He wasn't about to allow anyone to do anything to him that wasn't on his agenda.
