Unlike many on this forum I did not follow this trial at all and only tuned in for the closing arguments. I am one of those lawyers (with over 30 years experience) that so many on this forum love to hate. After the closing argument of the defense counsel, I told my wife that unless the prosecutor rehabilitated its position on rebuttal, the jury would not return a guilty verdict on murder and the best the prosecutor could hope for was manslaughter.
The prosecutor did not rehabilitate its case and the outcome is that she walks.
Error #1 was making it a death penalty case.
They could have gotten her more easily on a manslaughter charge.
P.S. I don’t hate lawyers. Without a prosecuting attorney and a defense attorney, there would be no justice system.
With all its flaws, and with some guilty persons going free as well as innocents being convicted, the American justice system is still the fairest on earth.
Well stated. You are a credit to the Class of ‘98.
I don’t hate you, BTW.
But the ranting of the yahoo Columbos and Perry Masons on these threads is getting tiresome.
A common denominator running through all of the Casey Anthony threads is that the vast number who think the jury are a bunch of lazy idiots (myself included) WATCHED the trial.
