Ah, let's not talk about the massive DESERTION rate by the Mexican military, Calderon. Since 2005 the military has lost about 150,000 soldiers through desertion and the majority took their weapons with them.

Ever wonder WHY the Mexican government doesn't have ATF do a check on 90 percent of the guns they recover? Because, these guns will trace back to Mexico's military (or law enforcement) or to other foreign countries that got them under Foreign Military Sales or from taking over the government (think: North Vietnam over South Vietnam).

You beat me to it. A secure border makes all of these concerns go away--but it interferes with the Democrat plan of building a permanent majority through amnesty.
